Kidsgrove is generally a successful town and a popular place to live. Its position near the countryside and its good transport links means most areas of Kidsgrove are in high demand.

However, the Galleys Bank estate - a former National Coal Board estate in the town - has a number of problems. Some of the houses need improvement work and the estate has a high proportion of private landlords, meaning people often move on. There are concerns that these issues could lead to problems with the housing market in the future.

RENEW North Staffordshire is working with Newcastle Borough Council and local people to make improvements to the Galleys Bank estate. By dealing with the housing problems, supporting the existing community and attracting new residents, the Galleys Bank estate could become as popular as other parts of Kidsgrove.
