Planning the future of Northwood

The creation of a masterplan, or neighbourhood action plan, is currently underway in consultation with the residents of Northwood. RENEW North Staffordshire is developing the Northwood Neighbourhood Action Plan in partnership with the local community, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and registered social landlord, Moorlands Harvest Housing.

A team of consultants, appointed with the help of the local Community Steering Group, has been working with Northwood residents and local businesses to identify problems within the neighbourhood. A major survey of community opinion was carried out in February 2009. Five ‘headline’ issues were highlighted, which need to be considered in the development of the Northwood Neighbourhood Plan. They are:

A series of development options to address the key issues was put together and in May 2009, residents were asked for the views on them.

All these views and comments have been put together to develop a ‘preferred option’, which will be presented to the local community – residents and business owners - during a six week further consultation period in September.

You will soon be able to look at the detailed ‘preferred option’ plans – look out for news of when they will be available to view.
