Masterplans

Have your say about the preferred development option for Northwood

The creation of a masterplan, or neighbourhood action plan, is currently underway in consultation with the residents of Northwood. Work began in 2008 and a preferred option for development is being produced. It is being drawn up in partnership with the local community, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and registered social landlord, Moorlands Harvest Housing.

A ‘masterplan’, or neighbourhood plan, guides the development and evolution of an area. It is a vision for the future, showing how an area will be transformed for the better, which is supported by documented policies, guidelines, and priorities.

To help make the plan as meaningful and useful as possible, a team of consultants has been appointed with the help of the local Community Steering Group. They have worked with Northwood residents and local businesses to identify problems within the neighbourhood and have looked to build solutions into the plan. This included a major survey of community opinion, carried out in February 2009. Five ‘headline’ issues were highlighted, they were:

The preferred option is being based on a series of development options considered by local residents earlier this year. From September 21st 2009 to 2nd November 2009 you will have the opportunity to comment on it directly.
