‘Usual Suspects’ triumph at inaugural quiz night

The inaugural City Waterside quiz night at the City Waterside Community Centre has been proclaimed a great success.

The evening, on February 9 was part of a series of events to promote the City Waterside and bring the community together.

A total of 13 teams of four battled it out over six rounds of general knowledge questions.  Nine teams from the community took part alongside teams from Renew, Sanctuary Housing, the City Council’s Neighbourhood Renewal Team and the Citizens Advice Bureau.

It was a nail biting contest but eventually a team of residents, ‘The Usual Suspects’, emerged victorious and took home the prize of Potteries Shopping Centre vouchers.

The evening was rounded off with generous helpings of pie and peas courtesy of Neighbourhood Worker, Lee Carroll and his team of helpers.

Geoff Davies, Residents’ Friend for City Waterside, who helped organise the event, said: “In terms of resident numbers this has been the most successful event yet.  There was a good cross-section of ages and everyone told me that they really enjoyed the evening. Due to the positive feedback that we received we are now looking to run a similar event in the summer together with a barbeque.”
