Family frieze brightens entrance to city.

Artwork featuring three generations of the same family has now gone up at the entrance to Bucknall New Road. Jean Ashby, 71, who lives in Seymour Street with her husband Albert, donated pictures of her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents for the frieze family theme.

Sale of pub is completed

The sale of a pub in Cobridge was completed this week. The Portland Inn, at the corner of Century Street and Portland Street, has been acquired by RENEW as part of the Voluntary Acquisition Programme.

Tribute for community stalwart Ken

Community leaders in Meir have paid tribute to a leading light of the area following his untimely death. For many years Ken Graham fought hard for his community with tenacity and determination. He was a founder member of the  Meir Community Steering Group and instrumental in helping the area fight for a place to call its own.
