Meir meeting honours founder member Ken.
11 June 2010
There will be a particular poignancy when the Meir Community Steering Group meets next week. For as well as unveiling a plaque to much-loved Ken Graham, who died a few months ago, the meeting room will from now on bear his name.
Ken was a founder member of Meir Community Steering Group and worked tirelessly doing voluntary work within the community.
Commented Maggie Carter, chair of Meir Community Steering Group: “One of the things Ken often asked about was the need to have a focal point for the community and after much hard work the Steering Group were instrumental in securing The Square Community Resource Centre.
“The Steering Group now hold their meetings at The Square every month and so it seemed fitting that something was done to remember Ken by.”
Therefore the Steering Group along with The Square Committee have decided that the main meeting room is to be named after Ken.
The next meeting will be held at 7pm on Thursday 17th June at The Square but those who wish to attend are also invited to a brief ceremony unveiling a plaque to commemorate Ken. This will take place an hour before the meeting starts at 6pm and all those attending will be offered refreshments.
