Meir meeting hears traffic management options
28 July 2010
Traffic and parking problems were discussed at the Meir Community Steering Group meeting on Thursday July 22nd.
Shamala Evans from Highways presented three options to tackle this issue, which was raised as a priority by residents during the Estate Improvement Consultation in February 2010. The options discussed would look at solving the traffic and parking problems around Stanton Road, Weston Road, Coclough Road, South Walk and Woodville Road.
Option 1 would introduce a one-way system around these streets, Option 2 concentrates on traffic calming measures, such as speed restrictions and road humps and Option 3 would be an amalgamation of Option 1 and 2.
These options will be discussed in more detail at the next Steering Group meeting for which the date has been changed from Thursday August 26th to Thursday August 19th at 7pm at The Square.
Also at the meeting were representatives from national house builder, Barratt Homes who updated everyone on their plans to submit a planning application for the Lea/Meadow Place development area in November/December 2010. They have already begun site surveys and are hoping to bring along a draft plan to the Meir Fun Day on Friday August 27th.
