Have your say on City Waterside East plans
12 May 2010
Consultations have been launched to enable residents and the local community to have their say on plans to regenerate City Waterside East on the outskirts of the City Centre.
Masterplan consultation boards were unveiled at the City Waterside Community Centre at a special community event - a Medieval Banquet - which marked the next important phase of consultations.
Now anyone interested in the development proposals is urged to visit the display and air their views.
Anyone interested can see the display by just dropping into the City Waterside Community Centre on Wed 19th May 4-7pm, Wed 26th May 4-7pm, Fri 28th May 10-12 noon, Wed 2nd June 4-7pm, Fri 4th June 10am - 12 noon, Sat 5th June 10am-2pm, Wed 9th June 4-7pm, Fri 11th June 10- 12 noon, Wed 16th June 4-7pm, Fri 18th June 10-12 noon.
The draft masterplan has been prepared following the consultation on the four options and through working with and listening to what local people have to say. The exhibition covers plans for:
- The area in front of the school
- New road layouts
- Public open space leading down to the canal
- Proposed site for the community facility
- The housing layout
- Retention of commercial premises along Leek Road.
The exhibition is part of a six-week consultation process and visitors will be asked to fill in a questionnaire. Responses will be collated and final changes made to the masterplan.
The final plans will then be displayed in the Community Centre in July and the masterplan document will then be used to encourage and guide the future development of City Waterside East, help secure investment for regeneration and set standards for the new homes, streets and spaces.
The exhibition will remain on display until 22nd June 2010.
