Consultation call brings a great response from Meir residents

Residents have come up with loads of ideas for estate improvements in a recent public consultation exercise in Meir.

Around 200 ideas for improvement projects were suggested following invitations to a drop-in event at the new community centre at The Square.

These ideas are now being considered by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and RENEW North Staffordshire and a progress report is to be made to the Meir Community Steering Group in May.

The ideas ranged from parking provision, better traffic management and more play facilities to action against dog fouling, littering and anti-social behaviour.

Peter Bevington, adviser to the Steering Group, said:  “The response from residents was really encouraging and we will need to see which ideas will deliver the greatest benefits for the community.”

“The next steps involve looking at what can be delivered from existing budgets to support the ongoing programme of regeneration at Meir.”

Residents can learn more at the next steering group meeting to be held at The Square on 20 May at 7pm.
