Alleygates set to help residents to feel safe

Alleygates are set to be installed to improve public safety in Hanley.

The £24,000 scheme has been drawn-up by RENEW North Staffordshire partners following requests from residents.

The gates are set to shut out anti social behaviour in Eagle Street, Balfour Street, Ludlow Street, Tintern Street, Homer Street and Bucknall New Road.

Planning permission has been applied for and public notices have been posted around the proposed gate sites.

If permission is granted the gates would be managed by Sanctuary Housing.

Alleygates have been successfully used throughout North Staffordshire to stop people gathering in alleyways or using them as a shortcut.

The scheme is being funded by RENEW North Staffordshire, the Safer City Partnership and Stoke-on-Trent City Council ward budgets.
